Blogger's Block

It’s that time again. Time for your next blog entry to go live. Problem is, it hasn’t been written yet. What should you do when you need to produce an informative, relevant piece of work but for the life of you, you can’t pick a topic?

Maybe it’s because you’ve already covered many of your best topics within the past few months. You don’t want to look like you are on repeat, so you wrack your brain for something new and fresh.

Current events? Hmm. There are plenty of those to go around, especially right now, when election year activities are at a fever pitch. But, um, no thank you, as the last thing you want to do is alienate any of your audience.

Current non-election-related events? Again, plenty to go around, but unless you’re an expert on Pokemon Go, you won’t be telling your reader anything they haven’t already read somewhere else.

Well, hey! How about those Indians? Yes, very exciting, but again...probably not the best blog post topic unless you’re ESPN.

So what do you do when you have a deadline as well as a very severe case of blogger’s block? Just go with what you know.

At the end of last year, we talked about why you need a content management system. If you still don’t have one for your site, check it out and see why a Content Management System is a good thing.

Then we made a plea for responsive design. Statistics show that your site needs to be mobile-friendly, so if it’s not, give that one a read to see why.

And then there’s the redesign. Whether it’s full-blown from the ground up or just a little refresher, you will be surprised at what can be accomplished with any size budget.

Of course, you also need to consider what happens after the launch. Don’t underestimate the value of those post-live activities that will allow you to ensure that your shiny new site really delivers.

So if you find yourself with a case of blogger’s block, don’t panic. Just remember that some things are worth repeating.
