Google Says Mobile Friendly Is A Must

Google Says Mobile Friendly Is A Must

We’ve been preaching the gospel of mobile design for a long time. Even before early 2014, when web traffic from smart phones and tablets surpassed traffic from desktop computers for the first time, the trend was clear. Today, it’s more important than ever. Google, the most used search engine in the world, really wants you to accommodate those viewing your site on small screens, and they’ve set a deadline for compliance.

"Starting April 21, we will be expanding our use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal. This change will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in our search results. Consequently, users will find it easier to get relevant, high quality search results that are optimized for their devices."

In other words, if your site does not have a responsive design — meaning that it adapts instantly to visitors’ screen sizes — then your Google rank will suffer. Maybe a lot.

Competing online is hard enough — don’t make it even more difficult with a web site that frustrates more than half your visitors. Contact WRIS today and we’ll help you stay in Google’s good graces.
